Brazils Supreme Court Orders Suspension of X (Formerly Twitter)

Brazil`s highest court ordered an immediate suspension of X, formerly Twitter, within the country. This decision follows a period of conflict between platform owner Elon Musk and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who argues that X has facilitated the spread of harmful content that threatens Brazil`s democracy. Moraes cited X`s repeated disregard for court orders and its role in disseminating dangerous rhetoric, particularly during the 2024 elections. Musk criticized the ruling, while X CEO Linda Yaccarino expressed disappointment and hope for future change. As of Friday evening, the platform remained accessible in Brazil, with the ban expected to be implemented within 24 hours by the telecommunications regulator.
