Brazil`s Supreme Court suspended X, formerly Twitter, within the country due to owner Elon Musk`s refusal to appoint a legal representative. Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who leads efforts against misinformation, stated X facilitated "impunity and lawlessness" harming Brazil`s democracy, citing the platform`s use for spreading hateful content and disregarding court orders. Musk criticized the ruling, calling Moraes an "unelected pseudo-judge" suppressing free speech. X CEO Linda Yaccarino expressed disappointment, hoping for the Brazilian government to uphold the Constitution. X plans to publicly disclose court orders and filings for transparency. While the ban requires time to take effect, Brazil`s telecommunications regulator has one day to implement it.
