This decision follows a period of conflict between the platform`s owner, Elon Musk, and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who has accused X of facilitating the spread of harmful content that threatens Brazil`s democracy. Moraes argues that X has disregarded court orders and allowed the platform to be used for disseminating hateful and false information, particularly during the recent elections. Musk has criticized the ruling, calling it an attack on free speech. X CEO Linda Yaccarino expressed disappointment and hopes for the Brazilian government to uphold its constitution. While the platform remained accessible initially, Brazilian authorities are mandated to implement the ban within a specific timeframe.
