Brazilian Judge Freezes Starlink Accounts, Threatens X Shutdown in Free Speech Battle with Musk

A Brazilian Supreme Court justice, Alexandre de Moraes, froze Starlink bank accounts in Brazil in an effort to collect fines imposed on X, formerly Twitter. Moraes claims X has not done enough to combat fake news and hate speech. Starlink, owned by Elon Musk, maintains it is a separate entity from X and is disputing the ruling. Musk has publicly criticized Moraes, even threatening him with imprisonment. In response to the dispute, Musk stated that Starlink will provide free internet service in Brazil until the matter is resolved. Moraes has also threatened to block X in Brazil unless a legal representative is appointed within a specific timeframe.
