USDA Clears Path for First GMO Wheat in US Market

The US Department of Agriculture ruled that Bioceres Crop Solutions Corp.’s drought-tolerant and herbicide-resistant HB4 wheat does not require regulation. This decision allows Bioceres to move toward its objective of introducing the first genetically modified wheat to the global market. The US joins Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina in approving the production and commercialization of HB4 wheat. While full commercialization in the US will take several years, industry groups are optimistic about the potential benefits for both farmers and consumers.
