CPKC to Halt Canada Rail Shipments Amid Labor Dispute

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) will stop accepting new rail shipments between the US and Canada starting Tuesday if negotiations with the Teamsters union are unsuccessful. Both CPKC and Canadian National Railway (CN Rail) are prepared to lock out workers on August 22nd if a deal cannot be reached, while the union is prepared to strike. Negotiations are ongoing, but both companies say little progress has been made. Industry groups are concerned that a simultaneous work stoppage at both companies will severely damage the Canadian economy and impact trade with the US and Mexico.
