Carpenter Loses C$415 Million Tesla Fortune, Sues Royal Bank for Negligence

A Canadian carpenter named Christopher DeVocht claims he turned C$88,000 into C$415 million by trading Tesla options, then lost it all in 2022. He is suing Royal Bank of Canada, alleging their financial advice, focused on minimizing taxes, was negligent and didn`t consider his limited financial knowledge outside of Tesla trading. DeVocht says he was inexperienced and relied on RBC`s guidance, which he believes led to his losses. Royal Bank has not commented on the lawsuit.
