Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. enacted a law requiring a 12% value-added tax on digital services provided by non-resident companies like Netflix and HBO. This law aims to equalize taxes between local and international digital platforms and generate revenue for the Philippines, which boasts high mobile phone usage. The government projects this tax will yield 1.4 billion dollars over four years.
