Amazon Acquires Covariant to Enhance Warehouse Automation

Amazon is acquiring talent from robot-software company Covariant to enhance its warehouse automation. Amazon will integrate some Covariant staff, including its founders, and gain a license for Covariant`s robotic technology. This move builds on Amazon`s existing automation efforts, which began with its 2012 acquisition of Kiva Systems. Covariant`s software is used by various companies for warehouse automation. Neither Amazon nor Covariant provided further details about the acquisition.
