Bidens Debate Performance Overshadows Economy as Top 2024 Election Issue

While the economy usually dominates presidential elections, and concerns about inflation seemed poised to be central to the 2024 race, Biden`s performance in the June 27 debate shifted focus to his age and mental fitness. His poor showing overshadowed economic discussion, which itself proved uninformative as the candidates focused on blaming each other for past economic issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath. Voters, however, are primarily concerned with current economic challenges like inflation and the cost of living, and the debate offered little insight into how either candidate would address these issues going forward.
